Reliability takes a whole different approach that can cost them far more in start up costs than they're able to absorb. Toyota/Lexus already has it down, they religiously build vehicle to last 25 years to the point some 1993 Lexus LS400 could last you yet another 25+ years. How many old jag's have you seen? No many probably.

Improving the build quality and soundness of their vehicles is no easy task. They already offer the 'best in class' factory warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles which includes scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance.
